What's up? Anyone know anything about Aheads or use them on their set? I'm thinking about grabbing some new heads. Thx.

I've never seen Ahead Drum Heads, and I don't see them at the website either. Are these new?
I didn't see them at The NAMM show either

It doesn't help anyone when negative opinions have no basis in one's own experience with the product. Back on topic, I had used some many years ago. They were similar to the Remo pinstripe and I used them on an introductory line of Pearl toms. I had replaced the stock heads that were on the kit and they were much nicer. I was young and wanted to save a few bucks, and those heads weren't bad, however I'm unsure if they still offer a model like that. Timekeep69 has extensive experience with them and may be able to provide more information.

I have only used Attack heads one time on a snare batter side. Lasted a VERY short time before I split it. P.O.Y!

I think when it comes to heads you shouldn't sacrifice quality and sound for a $4 savings. I have used most of the lines and couldn't recommend any of them. They have no tone and as what happend to Stump most of the time they will only last a short time. I have had one or two last awhile but.............

I think that perhaps people need to be reminded that if they do not have any personal experience with a product that they should really refrain from making recommendations. It does a disservice to the member asking for the opinion, and the rest of the board who then start making assumptions about given products that may or may not be correct. Sorry, but this kind of thing bothers me. I think the broad generalizations and theoretical information should be left in the Politics section....

I've broken very few drum heads in my day. Of the heads I HAVE broken, I'd guess 75% of them were Attack heads.
As Paul said, don't sacrifice quality to save $4.
It'll cost you more in the long run.

I've used a few Attack heads on both the toms and snare. The sound wasn't for me on any of the heads that I tried but that is a personal thing. I was able to get tone out of all of them though, and the 2 ply medium snare head sound good for a while, but I had to constantly tune it.
I've never broken one of the heads though.

I actually still have the Attack heads on the 'Rex that came with them. On top of that, they had already been used for recording by PJ. They still sound all right.

I see... Yeah, I've seen them on the web and was wondering if they're like Remo or Evans or if they were like a budget product...
Thanks everyone!

I've used them once...and it'll stay that way. It was a "need new heads NOW" situation and Pro Music and Sound didn't have all of my sizes in Emporers. So, I tapped the Attacks and thought they would do the job. Not a chance....did the gig and drove an hour and 15 min for a set of Emporers. This was about 9 years ago, so I don't remember exactly what line they were. But I do remember spending alot of time trying to get them tuned up nice enough. I can also remember sitting on stage behind my kit unhappy with any fill or break I played with the toms because they just didn't have the same sound quality as my remos. As for durability, I can't atest to that at all because they came off my kit as quickly as they went on (if not quicker). But, I think that they probably have a sound quality that fits SOMEONEs style other than Terry Bozzio, lol. So, if you have the patience and extra cash it might be worth it to try them out for yourself
