Now that's interesting. I was sold on a double chain once because it was supposed to have a solid footboard.

I have a tama chain drive single pedal I bought new in "83 that I still gig with today. I can't kill it . I Also have a tama hp 200 which I use for practice that is a great pedal. I recently bought a s/h iron cobra double pedal (my first double pedal) and I don't really like it yet. It is ok when you play loud, but not so good on the quiet stuff. The adjustment on both pedals is hard too. Maybe I just need to get used to it.

Both were backline situation so I only had a few hours on each, but they made a great impression on me.

To be honest, I'm not super picky about pedals, as long as they work.

I'm also using I.C. Rolling Glide and to hook in on the discussion earlier about wether or not the pedals are built to last a long time, I'm kind of in the middle.
The ones I'm using now are my second pair in like 9 years or so, abusing them daily. In between I bought Axis shortboards A versions and although I liked the feel after some getting used too, I hated the construction of the pedal. Too much aluminium, which is light and solid, but for me it didn't work with the steel bolts. I also wrecked the driveshaft, which I thought to be poorly designed. (Round shaft kept getting loose, during play, as well as the beaterstroke adjusters)
Then I went back to I.C. and was releaved by it's 'simple' design. But I've broken quite some parts during the years, so I would love to ride some Tricks, but the problem I find with such pedals, including Axis... It's pretty hard for me to get spare parts. Here in Holland there is only one guy who distributes Axis and as far as I know none, or maybe very little Trick distributors. And those pedals may never break so that I don't have to order parts, but if it does, I want to go to the nearest shop to buy new parts.
And Pearl or Tama, parts are very easy for me to get my hands on, so that's weighing pretty heavy in my decision. When these cobra's are done, I'm leaning towards Pearls Demon Drive.
{EDITED by ADMIN... added paragraph breaks to make this more readable}

I'm going to be back in the market again for a pedal but probably I'll just use my DW 5000 from about 1991. It's actually a double, but let's be honest when I had to have the sweet double pedal DW back in the day I literally thought I would instantly be a better player. So even though I love gear, I realize it can only help so much but practice, talent and time probably help way more. I don't do blastbeats or anything though they are sweet, I just don't my literally 90 year old neighbor would like that too much! Anyway, back off my tangent, the pedal still mostly works ok, just need to fix some things on it and actually put it in a case inside my hardware bag I think to limit the chance of emergencies. I've had a few things happen like bolts disappearing and the linkage for the chain disappearing right before I had a long gig - found part of the chain link and duct-tape secured the pedal! The Camco pedal that Tama sold has a little chain-link guard on it that DW really should've used so their pedal really could be as good as the Camco I've never had a Camco myself but both my junior high and highschool back in the day had them and I remember how we treated the gear - most of the damage in my experience seems to be in the moving process. My junior high still has that same Camco, sweet 15" 70s Zildjian hats, a Sabian "sound control" crash I picked out with my band teacher, and one of those "non-wood" older Tama Swingstars that actually sounds remarkably not bad. Those kids don't know what they have!

WELL!! I have been playing Tama's IC pedals since about 1998 and have NEVER.....EVER had any issues with them like I have seen explained on here. That could be because I maintain my equipment as if it were the last of it's kind. But, anywho....
I have been looking around at what the hype has been in reference to the Pro V-1 pedals. I have seen them up close and personal (which is a complete privilege considering my location, job, and where I've been for about the past 6 years) and was impressed with the review given by the drummer who played the pedals. They looked cool and he loved them. He had some initial issues getting them set-up to "his feet" but he got them squared away. I didn't get a chance to experience them myself because his kit was on stage and it was during a set break that we spoke on his pedals. But, then recently I had been doing some reading and youtubing and I am absolutely impressed with the workmanship, the engineering, and the quality of this product (quality as per drummer reviews). It resembles the kind of working and machining of certain flight critical aircraft components (ironically enough, there's a photo of a V-1 pedal with a "remove before flight" pin, lol). After having knocked out some bills for the year, the Pro V-1 will be at or near the top for my new toys list. I will say that the price tag ain't exactly for the common wallet, lol.
