As far as the endorser's kits go, doesn't ddrum have a US custom division that uses (largely) Keller shells?

I have a cheap Ash & Maple ddrum bass drum I bought before my Yamaha kit. It's fine sounding, in fact I love it but the clearcoat is so cheap it rubs off with an eraser! Whatever, it sounds fine and it'll be my nephew's soon anyway.

Um, Slayer. Great music for skateboarding, none of that pop-punk garbage.

Unless something's changed recently, Allegra Drums in Oregon makes the USA drums for ddrum, and they're a separate company.

Ive said it time and time again .. I swear by my ddrum dominion kit that has perfect edges - sturdy, non-crappy hardware and an immaculate durable finish. My kit was one of the first put into production. However - would I choose a Tama Starclassic over my Dominion? Duh. I was a bit shocked when I saw Vinnie Paul made the switch and even more shocked when I saw Dave Lombardo did. Starclassics are like my dream kit.

if you have a ddrum kit with perfect edges, you're set. heck, ANY set with good bearing edges...

I've seen a few DDrum offerings with some really crap bearing edges, and it kind of soured me on their drums.

I've only played a ddrum kit once and it sounded really good but I've heard MANY horror stories about ddrum kits so who knows. But to pry Dave Lombardo away from Tama speaks volumes.

I've looked at the upper end DDRUM kits at NAMM for the last two years and they are really quite nice. Really nicely made, well finished, and first rate product. I wouldn't be so suprised by a top name jumping to them, especially if there is a cash incentive. It's also easy to get lost in the TAMA artist roster, Nobody has that problem with DDRUM...

I think ddrum has a really large roster, although it's bloated with virtually anyone who bought a kit and has a band. There are really just a handful of name players on there.

I've also seen the high end kits from Ddrum. Like Zen said, they are very nice. That being said, I also own one of Ddrum's lower end lines and it doesn't even compare.

When I look at my Starclassic it is my dream kit and it sounds amazing. The higher end Ddrum's are nice, and they sound really good, but I still don't think they are at the same standards. This is more of a personal opinion though, but like others have said, they must be doing something right for Dave to leave Tama.

I agree with all here, there must have been a huge incentive for Lombardo to leave Tama. As far as their roster, Lombardo was featured pretty prominently in their ads, so it seemed they had a lot of love for him. Ddrum drums are ok, they're high end drums are very nice but they are hardly the innovative company Tama has been and still is.

Not much different than how Pearl and Tama become dominate forces in the 80's when only mere years earlier they were only regarded as less desirable imports.

I'm gonna have to agree, something is going on. This many big names in such a short period of time? They gotta be making big promises, or tossing around mad cash.

As far as Grohl goes, DW is better than nothing right? He wasn't endorsed before was he?

Apparently he has played Tama up until now, but he is not listed as an official endorser. Im not an expert on the subject, just did a little google research.

Did anyone happen to see the list of cymbals he's using?

Zildjian cymbals: 15" K hi-hats; 20" A Custom EFX crash; 20" A Custom crash; 19" K Custom China; 20" A Custom Rezo crash; 24" ZHT ride

I guess not quite as bad as you always hear. As we like to say- Buy with your ears.

To be fair though, it sounds like that ride was made specifically for him to replicate an old bell ride.

To the best of my knowledge, ZHT rides don't even come in 24" versions.

I'm sure this ride is of significantly higher quality than your average ZHT.

Maybe they made him one specially. Maybe he liked the clangy sound specifically within his set-up. Simlarly, base range Bronze "B8" China's are actually worth having because.........erm.......... they are so wrong they're so right, if you know what i mean.
