either there was a serious audio delay or some parts of that were dubbed. Everyone in the room we were watching the game at commented at one point in time or another about how they had to be faking it. Cymbals looked awesome though

Some of the clips seemed delayed, I highly doubt they were faking it.

that's what I was personally thinking, but then I played extra attention to the cymbals (go figure, perfect thread for such a discussion). Certain aspects of his playing were not lining up with the sounds that were coming out. I mean, he only had 4 cymbals? right? There was a couple parts where 3 sounds were coming off the SAME cymbal and he wasn't altering the way he was hitting it or his velocity. Just seemed weird, not really banking on them not playing live...just something I noticed. Again, when pointed out in the living room, other people noticed it too. I wasn't THAT drunk Zen, I'm over 21

Hmmmm. And I was having a conversation with my wife that she heard the band admitted they were forced to lip sync because of the problems they had with the Janet Jackson fiasco.

I think there's always going to be rumors about an artist lip syncing for events as large as the super bowl. While I may need to watch the performance again, I'll say I don't think they were lip syncing. Just watch Pete as he sings his "don't cry" section in Baba O'Riley. There may have been some "sweetening" going on, but like I said I'll probably need to watch it again.
As far as lip syncing to avoid a Janet Jackson fiasco, that's kinda supposed to be the point for booking what the NFL and CBS call "older, family friendly" acts, so that may have been born to support the rumor.
All that siad, I'm definitely not a lip syncing expert and there are probably some members with more experience on subject, and I look forward to hearing what they have to say.

yeh, I wasn't saying the ENTIRE performance was a straight dub. Not at all. There were just certain parts that stood out as "hmmm, what I'm hearing is not what I'm seeing." Nothing more nothing less.
Hell, I saw Dillinger Escape Plan and they had a backing track on most of their newer songs. I wasn't trying to be negative, just something I observed.

A Grammy producer stated that the Super Bowl shows are recorded at least a week or a few days beforehand and the artists lip-sync to them.
For the past few years, it's sounded more like a mix of live and pre-recorded material. There's no shame in it either, I couldn't imagine doing a sound check in five minutes.

^what he said. They weren't NOT playing, they just had "filler" for electro-parts and some of the harmonized vocals from Miss Machine/Ire Works.
